Federal Way High School boys' track and field athletes have placed at the state tournament
Federal Way High School boys’ track and field athletes have placed at the state tournament! This effort is in direct support of Goal 3 of our Strategic Plan, active learners: engaged, empowered, critical thinkers.
The 4x100 boys relay team took 1st in state with a time of 41.9.

Additionally, Daniel Kim competed in the ambulatory portion of the state track meet for the events of 100m and 200m. He took 3rd place in both events. Other administrators including coaches Quinn Gillis and Chris Williams are welcome to come forward at this time. Congratulations for these great accomplishments!
TAF@Saghalie scholars earn first place at the 2018 Imagine Tomorrow Science Fair
Congratulations to TAF@Saghalie scholars for earning first place for their project “Thermosense: Improving Airport Detection Through Thermal Detection” at the 2018 Imagine Tomorrow Science Fair.
We would like to recognize the following scholars:
- Yuliya Pruzhanskaya
- Lena Pham
- Edward Park
- Ariana Smith
- Daniel Chung
These scholars competed against teams from 30 different schools across multiple states at Washington State University.
This effort is in direct support of Goal 4, content area competence: mastery of all subjects. Congratulations!
Members of the Decatur High School girls' golf team have placed at state
Members of the Decatur High School girls’ golf team have placed at state. This effort is in direct support of Goal 3 of our Strategic Plan, active learners: engaged, empowered, critical thinkers.
We would like to recognize the following scholars:
- Golf team: Grace Xu and Claire Xu placed third at state
- Claire Xu also placed third in individuals
Other administrators including head coach Steve Gorrange are welcome to come forward at this time.

Rotary Club of Federal Way donated $36,500 in scholarships to 19 of our scholars
We are grateful for Rotary Club of Federal Way’s continued support of our scholars’ post-secondary pursuits. This year, they donated $36,500 in scholarships to 19 of our scholars. Each year, they provide in scholarships to FWPS scholars.
Will Rotary President Dale Peterson and the rest of the members from the Rotary Club please come forward to be recognized?
Schools can’t do it alone, and we appreciate the Rotary’s commitment to our scholars! Efforts like these support our Strategic Plan Goal 5: Persistence to Graduation.
Five Federal Way Public Schools were recognized by the King County Green Schools Program
We are proud of our schools working hard to encourage our scholars to become thriving, confident, responsible individuals, which is Goal 2 of our strategic plan.
Five Federal Way Public Schools were recognized by the King County Green Schools Program for their participation during the 2017–18 school year.

These schools worked to reduce waste, increase recycling, and conserve natural resources, engaging both students and staff in learning about and practicing resource conservation.
